KX96 is Western Manitoba's only rock station. The best of the old and the best of the new is how KX96 plays Westman's Best Rock. Serving a listening area that reaches all of Southwestern Manitoba, as well as Southeast Saskatchewan, and Northwest North Dakota, KX rocks.
KX96 was born in the summer of 1983 as WestMan's only FM radio station, and was immediately embraced as THE music station in the area. Like rock and roll itself, the station has seen many changes over the twenty plus years it has been on the air. By being there for all the significant events that shaped rock music over the years, KX96 can, with authority, call itself Westman's Best Rock.
KX96 has been instrumental in working with many different community initiatives. Westman Dreams for Kids, an organization that grants the wishes of sick kids and helps with their care, has been a partner with KX96 since its inception, and the station regularly promotes and attends fundraisers. Also, Westman and Area Traditional Christmas Dinner, a local Christmas charity that serves up free Christmas dinners to over 3000 members of our community every holiday season, has relied on KX96's annual week-long fundraising drives in December to fund their entire program. KX96 is also proud to host the Children's Miracle Network's Radiothon for Western Manitoba. And because Westman is not just Brandon, but a host of other small towns and communities, KX96 is inextricably linked through our support of the many charities, local fundraisers, and events throughout the region.
Whether at work, or at play, if it rocks, it's KX96.
