>>> The World’s Largest Drum Sticks belong to Dave Grohl <<<

Dave Grohl is one of my favorite drummers for more reasons than just being a great skin basher. For starters he’s also a great frontman, he also rocks as a singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer. To add to his already impressive list of accomplishments Grohl comes up with the greatest ideas for his videos and other marketing vehicles. The way he does his rock n roll business is second to none and this latest story proves it!

The Foo Fighters frontman recently took out a full-page ad and sent a message to his hometown of Warren, Ohio to thank it for constructing two giant drumsticks in his honor. According to Loudwire, the ad in the local paper featured Grohl wearing a "Made in Warren" T-shirt and a huge smile, while his message read, "To the wonderful city of Warren, from the bottom of my heart I'd like to thank you all so much . . . For the childhood memories. For my family. For my very own alley. For the world's largest drumsticks! And for all of your support . . . But most of all for being such a great community. One that makes me proud to say . . . I am from Warren, Ohio!"

As we all very well know, before he became one of the biggest frontmen in rock with Foo Fighters, Grohl first came to prominence as the drummer for Nirvana. He told the rock press a while back that although he always sang and played guitar, he considered himself first and foremost a drummer: [check out audio interview clip to your right]

The sticks, each weighing 900 pounds and made of giant poplar logs, were unveiled at a ceremony at the Warren Amphitheatre on Saturday night (July 7th), with the mayor reading the absent Grohl's message to the audience.

The drumsticks are thought to be the largest in the world, and will remain at the Warren Amphitheatre until the final show of the season in September.

After that, they'll be moved to David Grohl Alley, the downtown street renamed after the artist in 2009.
