The great Miles Davis uncharacteristically lays out on "Dr. Jackle" to kick things off, followed by Count Basie with Lester Young on the jumping "Lester Leaps In." Even with the slinky "The Mooche" by Duke Ellington, "Echoes of Harlem" by the unheralded Cootie Williams may be the most soulful tune in the bunch.
